HAVE YOU HEARD?
HAVE YOU HEARD? // A Hangover You Don’t Deserve
Have You Heard? is a series in which the team from Pod Bible meet the people behind the podcasts you may not have heard of yet. While the Oh. My. Pod. section in the magazine gives a quick shout out to shows of that ilk, Have You Heard aims to go deeper in an effort to spread awareness for shows that deserve more exposure! In this week’s edition we sat down with Daniel and Sophie to discuss their podcast, A Hangover You Don’t Deserve.
Pod Bible: Who are you and what’s your podcast about?
Daniel: I’m Daniel. I host the podcast with my best friend Sophie. Every month we go on a podcast night out and then record while we’re hungover the next day. We talk about drinking, hangovers and whatever else we feel like at the time.
Sophie: I’m Sophie, and he is correct.
PB: What’s the first podcast you ever listened to?
D: I don’t think I’d ever listened to a podcast until Scroobius Pip launched Distraction Pieces.
S: I was also kind of late getting into podcasts, but I subscribe to Abroad in Japan on YouTube and so decided to try his podcast out a while ago.
PB: Why did you decide to start podcasting in the first place?
D: When we’re together, we think we’re hilarious. We’d talked for a while about what kind of show we could do and then in a pub one night, my girlfriend said “what if the podcast was just this?” and within 24 hours we had the whole thing planned out.
S: It was actually all my idea, Daniel just likes to take the credit. I allow it because I’m a good friend.
PB: Which podcasts do you take inspiration from?
D: I can’t NOT mention Scroobius Pip here along with all of the shows on his network, but thematically, also Jaret Goes to the Movies and What Say You? play a big part in it.
S: I would also say Jaret Goes To The Movies!
PB: Who’s your dream guest for the podcast?
D: To be honest, what I love about our show is that anyone can relate to it in some way, so we can have anybody on the show and they’ll have some stories to share. We’ve both had our partners on the show and we even had Jaret Reddick from Bowling For Soup a couple of months ago and I don’t know a more well-versed drinker than him!
S: If we’re talking DREAM dream guest, mine would be Lemmy. Otherwise, one of the guys from Mötley Crüe or Ozzy. They would all have great hangover insights I’m sure! We’ve already had a rockstar on the show though, so maybe we could expand our horizons.
PB: What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learnt so far as a podcaster?
D: It’s easy to get a podcast out there; it’s not so easy to get anyone to pay attention.
S: Be prepared before you start recording. Actually, we still haven’t learnt that.
PB: Which episode would you say is the perfect introduction to your podcast?
D: ‘Episode 19 – The Thing About The Bad Toilet Attendant’ is one that I think represents us well.
S: I wanna say the latest one, because every new episode seems like our best yet to me.
PB: Where can the Pod Bible readers find out more about you?
D: Find everything at ahyddpod.wordpress.com
