]]>I’m Michelle Cehn, founder of World of Vegan and co-host of the Plant-Powered People Podcast. Our podcast is all about empowering listeners to live more consciously, healthfully, ethically, sustainably, and joyfully. We discuss practical tips for eating plant-based, share inspiring stories, and bring on leading doctors, scientists, and experts from around the world to share their knowledge in a friendly and approachable way. My co-host, Toni Okamoto, and I aim to make kind living and a vegan lifestyle accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

The first podcast I ever listened to was Food for Thought by Colleen Patrick-Goudreau. It was incredibly inspiring and played a significant role in my own vegan journey. Colleen’s ability to articulate the benefits of a vegan lifestyle with such passion and clarity really resonated with me. She is now a close friend and I’m still a listener of her podcast to this day.
We decided to start podcasting to create a space where we could have more in-depth conversations about the plant-based lifestyle. We wanted to reach people in a more personal and engaging way, beyond what we could do through blog posts and social media. Podcasting allows us to connect with our audience on a deeper level and share stories that can inspire and educate.

I take inspiration from several podcasts, including Rich Roll for its profound interviews and depth, We Can Do Hard Things for the power of vulnerability and openness, and Food for Thought for its compassionate approach to vegan topics.
My dream guest would be Dr. Jane Goodall. Her lifelong dedication to animal welfare and environmental conservation is incredibly inspiring. Having her on the podcast would be a dream come true, as she embodies the values we strive to promote.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is the importance of authenticity. Showing our own vulnerabilities, imperfections, challenges, and mistakes, can normalize the hard parts of life and can do so much to help combat shame. Being authentic and transparent is how we build a deep connection with our audience.

I would recommend starting at Episode 1 and going from there. Our podcast episodes are all intended to be evergreen, and useful no matter when you listen. But our podcast started by covering more vegan basics and evolved into a space diving deeper into topics with world renowned experts. If you’re not sure why anyone would go vegan – starting with the episode “What’s Wrong With Eating Animals” (Ep. 71) may be a good place to begin.
