HI ANDY! SO WHO HAS IMPRESSED YOU MOST IN QUALIFYING THIS YEAR?

It has to be Scotland. The less a team qualifies the harder it becomes to qualify with the seeding system, so for the Scots to win their first five matches in a group containing Spain and Norway is extraordinary.

WHO IS GOING TO BE THE DARK HORSE?

I’ve had my share of stick from listeners (and fellow hosts too!) by flagging that Turkey had the players to do well in Euro 2020 (they didn’t), so I’m not going down that road again! Hungary have greatly improved in recent years and in Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai, they have a bona fide superstar in their midst.

WHO IS THE ONE PLAYER READERS MIGHT NOT BE AWARE OF WHO COULD LIGHT UP THE TOURNAMENT?

Maybe Benjamin Šeško of Slovenia. He’s a big centre-forward who Manchester United were very interested in before he opted to go to RB Leipzig instead.

WHICH TEAMS SHOULD ENGLAND BE MOST WORRIED ABOUT?

France, obviously. Not only do they have Kylian Mbappé but they have great strength in depth as they showed at the World Cup.
