THE BOOK OF JOE – Recent Podcast Highlights #007
Every fortnight, guest writer Joe Ducarreaux picks out his recent podcast highlights in an effort to provide yet more wonderful content for your ears. Joe is an avid podcast listener who has been known to listen to over 40 episodes in just one week. To be honest we’re surprised he found time to write this column…
THIS WEEKS MUST LISTEN:
THE IGN UK PODCAST
I’ve been a fan of this podcast for close to seven years now and since then, the show has gone through many phases of presentation. Featuring brilliant discussions of the latest entertainment releases, the team (which now features only one of the original staff members from the podcast’s birth) brilliantly rib each other while offering great insight into the latest games, films and TV shows. There’s also a weekly quiz and feedback features, so a true interactive experience! A great listen.
EPISODES WORTH A DOWNLOAD:
DEAR JOAN AND JERICHA – EP 1
Now official winners of Best Comedy Podcast at the British Podcast Awards, creators Julia Davis and Vicki Pepperdine take on the roles of Joan and Jericha, two very ‘experienced’ women who steer their listeners through all kinds of problems life throws at them. I feel that with this podcast, the less you know about it at the point you start listening, the better, but just know that it is absolutely hilarious and very often strays into hysterical problems of a sexual nature. The inaugural episode already proves they are deserved winners.
THE TIM FERRISS SHOW – #366 NEIL GAIMAN
Best known for his book The 4 Hour Workweek, in this interview podcast, Tim Ferriss deciphers the mental tools his guests use in order to achieve their success. In this special episode, Tim admits he has been trying to get an interview with fantasy authour Neil Gaiman for close to twenty years. Gaiman gives his idiosyncratic quiet, considered answers to questions about his writing method, working with Terry Pratchett and how his new TV series is fulfilling his friends’ dying wish.
